We are proudly presenting a first place winner for N5 closed architectural competition. During the preparation stage our team set a goal to express existing building’s advantages – its architecture, amazing views, the special location (the hill of the old town next to the park). Building’s original use was education. The inside spaces were promising due to high ceilings (over 3 meters) and exceptionally monumental interior details that will undoubtedly enrich everyday life for the new residents. The building was historically designed as a representative palace. It is pulled back from the main street perimeter, raised higher, has a clearly expressed symmetrical composition, and proportional rhythm of the windows. Design process also included a new building that would coherently fit with the reconstructed building and the special environment surrounding it. This project seems to connect the modern and the old parts of Vilnius and gives a new meaning to the existing public spaces.
