BIRŽAI, Urban Analysis and Revitalization

Year: 2015
Project location: Biržai, Lithuania
Building function: Recreational

During an architectural-urban creative workshop, five key territories shaping Biržai’s identity were reimagined to revive underused waterfront spaces and create a cohesive recreational system. The vision links these areas, enabling smooth movement and giving each district a distinct character. Three priority zones were detailed: J. Janonis Square, redesigned with a flowing fountain, event space, amphitheater, sculptures, and playground; Reformatų–J. Bielinio streets, where pedestrian paths, a pier, café zone, playground, and sculpture park reconnect the city to its waterfront; and Radvilos Street Park, restoring cobblestone paths, adding information stands, improving pedestrian/cycling routes, and enhancing the beach with volleyball courts.
