AEXN architects

The hotel complex proposal in Riga’s Old Town reinterprets the site’s historic urban fabric while meeting contemporary hospitality needs. Two connected blocks follow the footprints and cornice heights of former buildings along the vital Kaļķu Street corridor, recreating the rhythm of the historic streetscape without literal reconstruction. Arched openings at ground level emphasize the public character of the first floor, hosting commercial and civic functions, while sloped roof-walls soften the skyline and preserve sunlight on neighboring streets. Warm-toned concrete panels, anodized aluminum frames, and clear glass reference Riga’s architectural heritage, creating a graceful, unified composition that blends past and present.
